If you are riding a horse through dusty country or driving an off-road vehicle, it is important to cover your mouth and nose. If this precaution is not taken, you may inhale dust, dirt and insects, which are detrimental to your health. Tie a scarf around your face so that you can easily take it off when you don't need it.

Fold the scarf into a large triangle.

Place the scarf around your neck so the triangle points down.

Bring the two loose ends around the back of your neck, cross them over each other and bring them around to your face.

Knot the two loose ends underneath the main triangle to secure it in place.

Pull the top of the triangle up to cover the mouth and nose. The extra fabric will hold the scarf in place.
