Many people assume they have to buy deodorant and, since it's typically used daily, the price adds up quickly. But you can make an effective deodorant at home using a few simple ingredients -- which not only saves money, but also allows you to create a scent that you enjoy.
Add 3 tablespoons of shea butter and baking soda with 2 tablespoons of corn starch and cocoa butter to a microwave-safe bowl. Puncture the vitamin E gel capsule with a needle, squeeze the liquid into the bowl and discard the rest of the capsule.
Microwave the ingredients for 30 seconds. Stir the mixture together until it forms a smooth paste.
Add any essential oils you like -- as little as one drop to as many as 30 drops or more. Stir the mixture again to evenly spread the oil.
Pour the mixture into a storage container. This recipe will make about a quarter of a pint. To use, simply scoop out a pea-size ball and rub it into your skin with your fingers.
